The hotel is located directly beside the beach in the best part of Varadero. Guests will reach the centre of Matanzas in about 2 km, while it is approximately 30 km to Varadero International Airport.

The hotel was inaugurated on Christmas Eve 1950. Built in the solid but elegant architectural style of that period, it still preserves the spirit of those years. The hotel’s lobby area is large and open, providing stupendous views and direct access to the beach. On offer are a total of 162 rooms spread across six floors. The hotel has beautiful gardens, and the facilities on offer include a bar, a laundry service (charges apply), parking for those arriving by car, and a kid’s club. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets are offered at the Antillano restaurant, while the Universal restaurant presents guests with a range of international cuisine, and the Italiano restaurant serves cooking from Italy. The “Continental” cabaret offers excellent dinners with a colourful show with truly infectious rhythms. This nostalgic optional activity will make for one of the best nights in Varadero.

The rooms all come with an en suite bathroom with hairdryer, a direct dial telephone, satellite/ cable TV, a minibar, a double bed, centrally regulated air conditioning, and a hire safe. The rooms afford views of either the sea or the gardens. All accommodation units are cleaned daily and provided with clean sheets and towels.

The hotel grounds feature a swimming pool as well as sun loungers laid out ready for use. Sports enthusiasts may further enjoy non-motorised water sports such as windsurfing (charges apply), catamaraning (charges apply), kayaking (charges apply), and pedal boating (charges apply), as well as tennis, table tennis, basketball, volleyball, badminton, mini bowling, and beach football. Being an Artist in Cuba – Travel Basecamp – Havana & Varadero – Ep 5/6
Visiting the Taller Experimental de Gráfica, San Ignacio (Experimental workshop of Graph) gave the basecampers a deep understanding of the life of an artist in Cuba, the kinds of support they get from the govt and where they get their inspiration from.
While touring the facility and chatting with the different artists they learned about the printmaking processes that are unique to this facility and stumbled into some genuine masterpieces and true craftsmanship.
Although the artists didn’t divulge much about local inspiration but there was obvious political commentary in much of the work…

No I really was here… in Cuba… on Varadero Beach… and at the Iberostar Laguna Azul Beach Resort before and Now I’m Back. Why you may ask, well when our little group decided to go to the Caribbean again we thought The Iberostar Laguna Azul Beach Resort on Varadero Beach in Cuba is a really nice resort on an Amazing Beach, but we’d already been there once, so where to next. We wanted to travel with the same group that we travelled with when we were at the Iberostar Laguna Azul beach resort the first time, so we had to find a resort with availability that suited everyone’s schedule, the Iberostar Laguna Azul beach resort had availability. We had to find a beach resort that was in everyone’s budget, the Iberostar Laguna Azul was in everyone’s budget. We had to find a beach resort that was rated at a level everyone was comfortable with, the Iberostar Laguna Azul was rated well. And since we were traveling with children we had to find a beach resort with reasonable flight times, and guess which beach resort was the only one that worked with everything we needed… The Iberostar Laguna Azul.

The Iberostar Laguna Azul Beach Resort is located on a beautiful stretch of Vardero Beach, about 10 miles from the city centre of Varadero Cuba and about 25 miles or a 30 minute drive from Varadero Airport. Varadero Cuba is a beach resort town located on Cuba’s northern coast, with it’s 20 km stretch of beaches, it is one of the largest resort areas in the Caribbean.
