For decades, Cubans fleeing their island home in search of a new life in the US have crossed the shark-infested waters in makeshift rafts. But when Jorge Armando Martinez decided to make the journey in February he chose a different method of transport: his windsurfing board. Thinking the voyage would last only a few hours, Martinez, 28, took only a bottle of water and a bag of sweets. He was at sea for four days.

Tips for Shooting Portrait Photography from Cuba

Follow me on Instagram:
To see more of my work from Cuba and around the wold visit:

Well in Cuba I had a lot of different opportunities to shoot portraits. Thus, I thought it was the perfect time to give some of my advice on shooting portrait photography when travelling. Obviously, shooting travel portraits is a lot more than just point the camera at interesting people and wishing for luck. We need to think about composition, the subject, and most of all being confident. If you ever want to go to a country to shoot travel portraiture photography, I can’t imagine there’s a better place on the planet than Cuba. It was just one perfect portrait subject after another. This is my last video from Cuba, but be sure to stay tuned to the travel photography channel for upcoming episodes from around the world!

Conan in Cuba: Cigars, Rum, and 6 Other Segments From His Historic Trip

Conan O’Brien took advantage of the recent thawing of relations with Cuba and did his whole show from the island natiion last night.
He became the first late-night host to do so since The Tonight Show’s Jack Paar interviewed Fidel Castro there 50 years ago. Unlike a lot of late-night hosts who set up a studio and local audience when they take their show on the road, O’Brien opted instead to roam around Havana with a handheld camera crew and not much else.
No televised trip to Havana is complete without a trip to a cigar factory, apparently, and O’Brien made the most of his, jumping on the PA system to address the workers and trying his hand at a hand-roll.
